Soccer Exercises: How To Kick Harder And Run Faster by: Andre Botelho Let me share with you some effective soccer exercises that can help your players learn how to kick harder and run faster. In soccer making the most of every opportunity is extremely important, very often it's the differnce between winning and losing a match. Explosive running speed and powerful kicks are something you as a coach must help your team players acquire. In soccer, if you want to make your contribution in the game, you need to get the ball and do something with it. Running fast and powerful kicking skills come in very handy. No one but a soccer coach can help the players sprint faster and kick harder and farther. # Making The Muscles Faster Muscle strength does not determine how hard a player kicks or runs; rather it's the speed with which muscles react and respond when asked to kick or run. Running long distances or training for longer periods are some of the effective ways to make player's muscles faster. Some coaches train their players by instructing them to lift weights, but lifting weights only makes muscles stronger, not faster! # Specific Training For Muscle Speed Most coaches do not pay heed to specific training for muscle speed. It is very important to organize specific training sessions where players only focus on making their muscles faster. One of the best ways to develop muscle speed is to use a program of isometric exercises with resistance bands. Teaching isometrics using the resistance bands can develop blazing speed and quickness in your team players. # Abdominal Exercises Normal sit-ups also make an ideal exercise. Keeping your abdomen fit and in good shape is very important and it will help players run faster and kick the ball with more power. When players are doing normal sit-ups, make sure they keep their chin off their chest. Another good abdominal exercise is to alternate elbows to knees remembering to only count reps on one side. Alternating hand to foot is another good abdominal exercise, again remember only count reps on one side. Along with the above exercise, you can also have your players do straightforward cardiovascular training in the form of running, rowing, and stepper's. # Recovery Time Finally, when running training sessions for soccer exercises, always give the body a chance to rest and recover for before matches.
This info was good i took it into consideration with my soccer kids now they are 10 times better thanks

I have been playing for more than 20 year and its been awhile since that i ve read something that is simple, effective and old fashion .great ifno.zakary.
Interesting article.
Not sure how isometric training with resistance bands creates speed...
An isometric contraction means no movement at the joint. This where I am confused on how you can develop speed...?
I think players are better off building strength and doing jump exercises to build speed.
you need to move to build sped. There isn't any movement in isometric exercises
